SFC Retreat: Intimacy Weekend

It’s been an awesome retreat experience this past weekend.

I’ve recently returned & began to be more active again in my old ministry of SFC.
And it was really nice to kick it with them again this past weekend.
It’s not that I really learned a lot this weekend, but it was a good reminder of everything. Theology of the Body, chastity, relationships, loving one another, etc.

This has to be by far the best SFC Retreat/Event I’ve ever been to. Merely because it was started off with a bang by my brudda Derms on ToB & JP2.

I must say the highlights of this trip were kickin it with my SFC Fam, going to Mass, serving as the Sacristan for it, kickin it with Jules, & Adoration.

-SFC Fam:
It’s been a long time since I’ve kicked it with these guys, freakin love them. Sometimes I forget how awesome they are. I’ve been super MIA since I’ve been branching out & more active within the Diocese, learning Catechesis, Theology, etc. The year that I’ve been gone has been a great experience & I have much to share & give back to SFC now.

-Going to Mass:
This was particularly exciting because I was asked to serve as the Sacristan (Altar Boy) for this Mass. Which I havnt done since SDSU Catholic Ministry. I have never served a Sunday Mass, but the skills I’ve acquired from my years of experience have thoroughly paid off. I believe my Sacristan performance was satisfactory. It was a very humbling, but a great honor to serve at the Altar of the Lord for Mass. Oh yeah haha Fr. Alvin, a Priest from the Order of St Augustine celebrated Mass & it was cool to serve under him too haha, miss that guy!
Also, so sad, there were extra Consecrated Hosts after Mass & I asked if he needed people to consume it, he said no that he’ll take it back to the Monastary. Jesus was kept in a tupperware, I was like, “Awww… my King, I’m sorry I have no better Chariot to offer You for Your transport.”

-Adoration:
Sadly this wasnt planned. Adoration was comprised of the Purificators & Altar Cloth that have the Blood of Christ spilled on it. We didnt have means to properly clean the cloths, so I kept it upon a clean table. I sat guard by it & placed a lit candle next to the cloths to signify the Presence of Christ. I fear that less Catechized people had no idea what some guy was doing sitting by white cloths with a lit candle beside them.

-Kickin it with Jules:
I rarely get to see this girl & it is always a pleasure kickin it with her.
She is a true daughter of God, totally inspiring.
Anyway, I kinda just pulled her into Adoration with me, cuz we kept the Linen in the back corner, away from the retreat program. (If people only knew Christ’s presence, I’m sure He would’ve been front & center.)
Hahaha what was funny was, I told her, “Hey, wanna come to Adoration with me?” She replied with a yes. I took her to the “Adoration Station” & she looked at me confused. I had to explain the linens with the Blood of Christ stained on them.
It was pretty cool, she wanted to see the stains so I unfolded the Altar Cloth, immediately it stuck out in my head, this is like the burial cloth they wrapped my King’s body in, stained with his blood.
For a significant amount of time that day, we sat there with our King, adoring Him while we listened to the talks, etc.
Haha another thought occured, we were guarding our King & 2nd Class Relics! XP

I look forward to serving God more through the Diocese, SFC/YFC, & Mass.
Thank You Lord for the blessings of this weekend!
